
Australian Pensioners & Superannuants' Federation Inc
Australian Pensioners & Superannuants Federation Inc (APSF) was
founded in 1956. APSF's mission is to advocate to government and the
private sector to ensure pensioners and superannuants receive a fair
go. Previous campaigns include:
- Stopping introduction of bonds for (high care) nursing homes
- Improved standards of care in aged care facilities
- Campaigning against the GST
- Reintroduction of Commonwealth Dental Health Scheme
- Pensioner concessions with Telstra
- Stopping introduction of timed local phone calls
- Increasing the pension to an appropriate level
- Increased public housing for pensioners and superannuants
- Save and improve Medicare
- Increase availability of home help for pensioners and
superannuants
After the Howard Government
defunded the Federation in 1997, APSF has been operated in a voluntary
capacity by the Secretariat, APSF's NSW affiliate Combined Pensioners
& Superannuants Association of NSW Inc (CPSA). Current issues
include:
- Increase to the base rate of all pensions and allowances
- Increased public housing
- Include dental care in Medicare
- Improve standards of care in aged care facilities
